Medical office surge is any event, natural or man-made, in which the ability to evaluate and care for a markedly increased volume of patients challenges or exceeds normal operating capacity.
Purpose
The purpose of this exercise is to test the feasibility of your clinic’s emergency medical surge plans in the real world. There are many different methods which may be used to conduct the exercise depending upon the unique environment that your clinic operates under.
This exercise is designed to provide assistance to your office in medical surge preparedness in three basic ways:
Our goal is to assist every medical office to be better prepared for a medical surge event.
By completing this exercise, you will be able to codify your clinic’s responses into a useful Emergency Surge Plan that is specific to your office.
Your participation will materially contribute to the region’s community Health Preparedness efforts.
Thank you for your continued health preparedness efforts!
