 In the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other large-scale emergency, the Department of Homeland Security will provide a coordinated, comprehensive federal response and mount a swift and effective recovery effort. The Department assumes primary responsibility for ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared for any situation.

Medical Offices and Clinics Pandemic Influenza Planning Checklist  

Planning for pandemic influenza is critical for ensuring a sustainable healthcare response. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have developed the following checklist to help medical offices and ambulatory clinics assess and improve their preparedness for responding to pandemic influenza.

US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR)

 

ASPR coordinates interagency activities between HHS, other Federal departments, agencies, and offices, and State and local officials responsible for emergency preparedness and the protection of the civilian population from acts of bioterrorism and other public health emergencies.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)

Public Health Emergency Preparedness Home Page

AHRQ is a part of HHS, and has a large quantity of resources. There are sections on Research, Surge Capacity, and Meetings and Conferences on a variety of subjects.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Plan Ahead Home Page

FEMA has large sections on their website devoted to preparing for and preventing (or mitigating) emergencies and disasters.
